Thanks for checking out my comparison of the Cobra LTDx driver vs LTDx Max driver.
I’m an avid golfer, a 9.2 6.7 handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.
I introduced myself to Cobra drivers this year when I compared the Cobra Radspeed & LTDx drivers a few months ago. I had NO idea Cobra made such high-level drivers.
Now, I needed to know if there were any major differences between the LTDx and LTDx Max.
Summary: The Cobra LTDx Max driver is a touch more forgiving than the very forgiving LTDx driver. They played identically for me in every other way – Awesome. They both get my highest recommendation.
In this comparison of the Cobra LTDx & LTDx Max drivers, I discuss my experience with each driver, unique features and benefits, and my suggestions on which you should buy.

Testing the LTDx & LTDx Max Drivers
Both drivers got range work and course work.
I spent more time on the course with the LTDx Max. Mostly because my range was closed often due to daily rain. So, I went straight to the course for the bulk of my work. And, I couldn’t have been more impressed.
I’ve called myself a mediocre driver many, many times on this website. Well, I didn’t feel or perform that way with the LTDx Max in my hand.
Granted, my driver swing was about as good as it’s been in years, but I always mix in bad swings. Time and again, the LTDx Max kept me in play. This is everything I want/need from a driver.
Are there big differences between the LTDx and LTDx Max?
The LTDx Max was a touch more forgiving, and I mean just-a-touch, more forgiving. And I wanted to propose to the shaft it came with. (Project X HZRDUS Smoke IM10 60 Stiff Flex)
Don’t get me wrong – the LTDx is plenty forgiving in its own right and I put it up there with the most forgiving drivers of 2022.
Looks
They look identical until you take a peek at the sole. The LTDx Max has two red movable weight screws (3g & 10g) you can set to a neutral or draw bias. The LTDx has one red weight screw.
Ball Launch/Flight
The same. Though the LTDx is designed to be a mid-launch driver and the LTDx Max a high-launch driver. Well-struck shots with decent swings produced tight draws down the fairway.
Sound/Feel
The same. Awesome
Forgiveness
I give the edge to the LTDx Max, but not by much. Both drivers are known for being forgiving and they live up to that rep.
Distance
The same.
So, which driver should you buy?
Which driver would I get if I were coming out of my pocket?
The LTDx Max– It’s got a touch more forgiveness and that’s what I’m all about off the tee.
Which driver should you get?
My #1 suggestion is to test both clubs before you buy. Either at your local golf store or take advantage of Global Golf’s Utry trial program. I use it and recommend it.
Thanks for checking out my Cobra LTDx driver vs LTDx Max driver comparison.
I hope whichever one you buy works as well for you as they both did for me.

How do you adjust a Cobra LTDx driver?
You can use the adjustable hosel for any Cobra driver and you can move the sole weights in the LTDx Max driver.
What do the weights do on a Cobra driver?
The weights in a Cobra driver let you adjust the degree of flight bias – neutral, fade, or draw
I like the fact that you can play the LTDx Max with the weights in the draw or neutral setting. I recently bought a RadSpeed XB which seems a little fade bias.
Yeah, I’m going to move weights before I mess with face angle if I’m going to adjust a driver. But, I didn’t need to move anything with the LTDx Max. The Radspeed XB is a great driver. I don’t think most golfers know how good Cobra drivers are.
Why didn’t you use the same shaft in both drivers?
Hi John – I didn’t have the opportunity. I tested them months apart.
Hey mate,
I fell in love with the LtdX Max at my local shop and by some mix up left the golf shop with the LTDx standard. There was no Max drivers left.
Ive been advised i can adjust the head setting from standard loft to standard draw and that will give a similar forgivness. Did you try this by any chance? And if so what are your thoughts?
Hi Mitch,
First, I did not mess with loft settings with the LTDx or LTDx Max. Wish I could help you there.
I’d say it depends on who’s advising you changing to Standard draw would give you similar forgiveness.
Did you find a big difference?
