This is our review of the best golf push carts (a.k.a. pull carts) on the market in 2024.

I’m an avid golfer, 8ish handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.

We (I) rate push carts in 7 categories:

  1. Quality of materials and construction.
  2. How well it rolls on different terrain.
  3. Maneuverability.
  4. Stability.
  5. Storage & Accessories (Especially an umbrella holder)
  6. Ease of opening and closing.
  7. Does it store easily? Is it compact when folded up?

In this review of the best golf push carts, we discuss each model’s benefits and features, our recommendations, and any discounts we’ve been able to secure.

The Clicgear Rovis Swivel is our #1 pick for best golf push cart in 2024.

What we like:

  • Rolls smoothly & maneuvers easily over most terrain.
  • Easy to open and close for storage or transport.
  • Ample storage.
  • Premium construction.
  • Great price.

What we don’t like:

  • Nothing. Love this thing.

It’s obviously made well – I knew as soon as I set my eyes on it.

It opened and closed pretty easily and intuitively the first time for me and got easier every time after that. I love the way it rolls, and the front swivel wheel makes it exceptionally maneuverable in my experience. I steered it around the course without having to pay constant attention to it.

The storage compartment easily fits my phone and Skycaddie. It’s got all the storage you’ll need during your round and it folds up small for easy transport and storage.

The Rovis Swivel checks all the boxes and comes in at an unreasonably good price.

As with most golf push carts, the instructions aren’t the best. So, the first time opening it was a slight pain for me. But, once you get it, you’re good to go.

Recommendation: I don’t see how you wouldn’t like the Rovis Swivel if you give it a fair try. The price is great, too.

The Big Max IQ 360 is our new Runner-up in 2024.

What we like:

  • It Rolls smoothly, maneuvers well, and has a wide base for better stability on uneven terrain.
  • Ample storage.
  • Premium construction.
  • Opens and closes easily for quick storage and transport.
  • Many great accessories can be purchased separately.
  • Great price.

What we don’t like:

  • High-quality accessories, but they aren’t included. (We were looking for an umbrella holder)

The IQ 360 is very intuitive to open and close. I barely glanced at the instructions. It’s solidly built, looks handsome, and rolls and maneuvers easily.

It’s stable and doesn’t require constant attention to keep from tipping over. We took it up and over and on the side of hills with no issues.

The umbrella holder is nice, but I don’t like the fact that I had to get it separately. This is standard with all other push carts I’ve tested.

Still, it’s a great push cart even if you have to buy the high-quality umbrella holder separately.

Recommendation: An excellent push cart at a great price.

#3 Bag Boy Nitron Auto-Open Push Cart

The Bag Boy Nitron Auto-Open is next on our list .

What we like:

  • It Rolls smoothly, maneuvers well, and has a wide base for better stability on uneven terrain.
  • Premium materials and premium construction.
  • Crazy easy to open and close. (they aren’t kidding about “auto”)
  • Umbrella holder included.

What we don’t like:

  • On the expensive side.

The Nitron Auto Open doesn’t have a swiveling front wheel like our favorite push carts. But, we found it maneuvered well anyway. It’s probably the biggest and most stable cart we’ve tested.

The handle is big and exceptionally comfortable. Not something I thought of while testing other carts. But, it stands out with the Nitron.

Recommendation: More expensive than our first two selections. But, it’s high quality and a joy to push around. (It’s not available at Amazon)

The Clicgear Model 4 is still a heck of a push cart.

What we like:

  • Rolls & maneuvers well.
  • Premium construction.
  • Folds to a decently compact size.
  • Handy storage for your phone, balls, scorecard, tees, etc.
  • The Umbrella holder is a lifesaver when it’s sunny and hot.

What we don’t like:

  • Poor instructions.

Opening it and closing it the first couple of times was a bit of a chore. Maybe I’m not great at instructions and opening the Model 4 didn’t seem all that intuitive to me. But, it’s easy and quick enough once you get the hang of it.

It checks all the boxes for me, and the price isn’t bad either. Quality material and solid construction mean It’ll be around for a while.

Recommendation: More expensive than our top two picks, but a really nice cart. Give it a try. I think you’ll like it.

#5 Sun Mountain Pathfinder 3X (PX3) Push Cart

The Sun Mountain PX3 makes our list.

What we like:

  • Easy to open and close.
  • Rolls and maneuvers well.
  • Quality construction.
  • Handy storage for your phone, balls, scorecard, tees, etc.
  • Folds to a reasonably compact size.
  • Umbrella holder is a lifesaver when it’s sunny and hot.

What we don’t like:

  • Not quite as sturdy as our Editor’s Pick.

The PX3 was much easier to open and close on my first try. It’s intuitive and there are no real pinch points – unlike the Clicgear Model 4. Putting your bag on couldn’t be easier and the fastening system is easy and intuitive as well.

It rolls and maneuvers well and is stable.

Recommendation: Give the PX3 a try if you want to save a little money and want something just a tad lighter and less bulky.

The Sun Mountain PX4 is our #1 Recommendation 4-wheeled carts.

What we like:

  • Easy to open and close.
  • Quality construction.
  • Handy storage for your phone, balls, scorecard, tees, etc.
  • Folds to a reasonably compact size.
  • Umbrella holder is a lifesaver when it’s sunny and hot
  • Maneuvers well, just not as well as one-wheeled carts.

What we don’t like:

  • Not as maneuverable as a 3-wheeled cart.

That’s it. It’s the same as the PX3 in virtually every other way, save the two-sided umbrella holder option on the handle area.

We’re picking a nit here. It rolls fine and you’ll get around the course great with it. But, the PX3 and Clicgear Model 4 do it a touch better.

Recommendation: Try it out. It’s a great pull cart and you may fall in love. Many have.

#7 Big Max Blade IP Golf Push Cart

Best For Flat Courses
Big Max Blade IP

  • Lightweight & Folds Flat
Cons:
  • Awkward steering & less stable rolling over slopes
  • Umbrella holder not included

The Big Max Blade IP is next on is the first cart we tested from Big Max.

What we like:

  • Premium materials and construction.
  • Supremely easy to open and close.
  • Rolls well on flat terrain.
  • Large selection of high-quality accessories you can buy.
  • Lightweight. Folds flat. Easy to transport.
  • Reasonable price

What we don’t like:

  • Poor maneuverability & stability on steeper slopes. (I almost lost this baby a few times)
  • Umbrella holder not included.
  • You’ll have to buy all those high-quality accessories separately.

I wanted to love the Blade IP…I like the Blade IP.

It’s definitely the coolest golf push cart I’ve tested. I love minimal design as a rule and the Blade IP is minimal, if anything. It’s sleek, elegant, made of quality material, and constructed very well.

I wish it was a little more functional on the course and that it came with an umbrella holder. I live in Houston where it’s hot and sunny a LOT. An umbrella in an umbrella holder on my push cart is non-negotiable for me when I’m walking in the Summer. (Sun damage and skin cancer ain’t no joke)

You can grab theirs for about $35. Big Max has a TON of cool accessories for their push carts.

The Blade IP required my full attention when pushing it around my course. We have a lot of steep and subtle slopes. My hands and arms stayed engaged to steer it well.

To be fair – I don’t use push carts often. A more experienced user may maneuver the IP with much less effort.

Recommendation: I think it’s better for flat or flatter courses than the one I play. At least for novice golf push cart users. (like me)

#8 Zero Friction Wheel Pro

I was mui excited to try the Zero Friction Wheel Pro…Boy, did that wear off fast when I rolled it.

It’s not terribly stable. It doesn’t roll smoothly and will veer off left and right repeatedly. Skip it.

I love the concept and I WISH it worked. It doesn’t. I hope they address the shortcomings.

Recommendation: Not

FAQs

How much weight can a push cart hold?

A push cart can hold ~35lbs, the weight of the average golf bag with your clubs and accessories in it.

Do cart bags fit on push carts?

Yes, most cart bags fit on push carts.

Are 3-wheel or 4-wheel golf carts better?

3 wheel golf carts are better if the front wheel swivels (in our opinion). Otherwise, they are pretty close. Head to your local golf store and roll a few of them around to get an idea for yourself.

Is buying a push cart worth it?

A push cart is worth buying if you intend to walk occasionally or often during your rounds. Carrying a bag for 18 holes is harder than you think

Are Clicgear carts good?

YES, Clicgear carts are good.

How long does a golf push cart last?

A golf push cart should last many years if you take care of it.

Which is better push or pull golf cart?

Push golf carts are better. I’m not sure they make a golf pull cart anymore.

Do most golf courses allow push carts?

Yes, most golf courses allow push carts.

Is walking in golf good exercise?

Yes, walking in golf is good exercise.

Final Verdict

I would happily own any many of the carts on this page.

I suggest you visit your local golf store and get your hands on a few to test them out. Don’t be in a hurry. You’ll have this thing for a while.

I’ll be testing more carts in the coming weeks…and years. Please leave any suggestions below and I’ll see if I can get my hands on them.
