This is our review of the best golf nets on the market in 2024.

Whether you us it in your garage, your backyard, or even in your house. We’ve got you covered.

I’m an avid golfer, an 8ish handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6), and a frequent tester & reviewer of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.

Couple things to look for when choosing the best golf net for practicing at home

  1. Stop golf balls – it should catch your ball and deliver it gently down to your feet, straight down, or into a convenient collection area. Your ball should never shoot past you or go through the net.
  2. Durability – good golf nets ain’t cheap, so you expect them be around longer
  3. Easy setup, take down, storage – cheaper nets can be a massive pain to assemble and or take down, so they tend to gather dust.

I’ve listed a variety of the best and most highly-rated golf nets on the market in 2023. And you can choose which one fits your exact needs and budget.

The Net Return Pro Series V2 golf hitting net is our #1 Recommendation.

What we like:

  • It stops your golf ball fast and without a crazy rebound – No chasing your ball around your garage or yard.
  • Insane durability – It’s made to withstand over 250k shots
  • Easy & fast to set up & take down – Thorough instructions, along with ample video instruction on the website are included. But, you can easily get by by following the color coding on the frame.
  • Easy storage – Comes in a nice duffle bag so you can easily bring anywhere you like
  • Highest quality construction – The frame is made of lightweight 1.5″ tubular steel and the net is commercial-grade UV-treated polyester (not cheaper nylon).

What we don’t like:

  • Steep investment.

Dimensions:

  • 7’6″H x 8’W x 3’6″D
  • Weight: 28 lbs.

Who’s it for?

  • You want the best hitting net experience
  • You put a lot of work into your swing and golf game
  • You don’t mind shelling out a little (or a lot) more because you know you’ll get your money’s worth

Customer reviews: Quality is undisputed by buyers. One complaint is net will fall over in strong wind if not tethered or weighted down.

Recommendation: Great net that’ll be around for many a year. Still, this is a significant investment in your golf game. You need to be at least a little serious about your game or have money to burn.

The Spornia Spg-8 golf practice net is our new #1 Recommended net from Spornia.

What we like:

  • We love the larger hitting area – ESPEcially the 2 ft angled down roof extension. Lessons fear of hitting wedges or sky-ball drivers.
  • “Automatic” ball return system – the ball rolls gently down into the ball stopper, which hold over 200 balls
  • Easy assembly and disassembly – instructions aren’t great, but you get the hang of it pretty quick and it’s a cinch after that.  Literally less than 5 minutes.
  • Quality construction – It’s built to be even more durable and sturdy than the already impressive SPG-7 (listed below)
  • Chipping ring included – great for chipping and pitching practice.

What we don’t like:

  • Sharp edges on collapsable poles for hood extension can damage material as you run it through.

Dimensions:

  •  8ft. x 8ft. x 8ft. high (+ Roof extends Height of 8ft. to 10 ft. angled down)
  • Weight: 30 LBS

Who’s it for?

  • You want a great hitting experience & want the added confidence the extra 2 ft high extension gives you to swing away.
  • You’re serious about your game and will put in the work

Recommendation: Great net if you’re willing to spend a little more for the added confidence a large net affords.

  • Highest quality construction – The frame is made of lightweight 1.5″ tubular steel and the net is commercial grade UV-treated polyester (not cheaper nylon).

What we don’t like:

  • Only 7ft high can cause hesitation when swinging your driver and wedges.

Dimensions:

  • 7’H x 7’W x 3’6″D
  • Weight: 39 lbs

Who’s it for?

  • You want the best hitting net experience
  • You may want to put it in your garage, and can even fit in your home.
  • You put a lot of work into your swing and golf game

The Spornia Spg-7 golf practice net bundle is our #1 Recommendation for best net under $500 for a couple reasons.

  1. “Automatic” ball return system – the ball rolls gently down into the ball stopper, which hold over 200 balls
  2. Roof addition to catch wedge shots, skyed drivers, woods, or high shots in general.
  3. Durability – takes many, many hits with no signs of wear
  4. Easy assembly and disassembly – instructions aren’t great, but you get the hang of it pretty quick and it’s a cinch after that.
  5. Quality construction – made well and will be around a while.

The Divot Dome net from Global Golf is our #2 Recommendation for nets under $500.

What we like:

  • Good construction & decent durability. I’ve used it for months and never take it down.(too much of a pain) Netting has held up well with no signs of wear.
  • Balls hitting the target drop straight down.
  • Not too bad putting up once I figured it out.
  • Anchor hooks work well to keep it stable.

What we don’t like:

  • I wish it was taller. I don’t have a ton of confidence hitting wedges or driver (skyed drives).

Dimensions:

  • 7 × 9 x 4.5

I test a LOT of clubs these days, and I usually start by going in my back yard and hitting into this net. I hit with confidence because it’s nice and wide and deep enough to catch and hold my shots.

My one slight gripe is the height. I’m a high-ball hitter, so I wish it was a foot or two higher for confidence sake. That being said, nothing has gone over yet. I just have to be careful with wedges and skyed drivers.

Who’s it for? You want a good-quality net and a good hitting experience but only want to spend $100 or so.

Recommendation: Well worth a try if you are going for a budget option but still value quality.

We recommend the Rukket Haack 10×7 golf practice net bundle for a couple of reasons.

What we like:

  • Good at absorbing any shot you throw at it
  • Value – good net and good performance for the price
  • Easy assembly and disassembly – though instructions aren’t the best
  • Decent construction – made well and will be around a while.

What we don’t like:

  • Not the most robust net.
  • Wish it was taller.

Dimensions:

  • 10ft W x 7ft H x 3ft D

Who’s it for?

  • You want a good hitting experience at a bargain price
  • You like working on your game at home

Recommendation: Worth a look if you’re in the market. Good net at a no-brainer price

FAQs

What is the best net in golf?

Net Return makes the best nets. Not particularly close.

Are backyard golf nets worth it?

Yes…if having one gets you to practice more often and assuming you know what you’re doing.

What size golf net should I get?

Minimum of ~7 feet high by 8 feet wide. I prefer higher nets to catch skyed drives and wedges.

Are golf chipping nets worth it?

As always, depends how much you commit yourself to using it. They aren’t expensive, so it’s not a big dent in your wallet. You can always just throw out a towel or something else to use as a target.

How long do golf nets last?

Premium golf nets should last for years and years. Decent quality nets that you pull in out of the weather should also last a few years.

Does practicing with foam golf balls help?

They mostly help with grooving contact and allow you to take full swings and keep the ball in your yard.

How do you set up a golf net at home?

Your net should come with a decent set of instructions. The better the net the better the instructions…usually.

Verdict

Net Return nets are our hands-down favorite golf nets. Their quality and durability are unsurpassed.

The best nets cost quite a bit, but their durability and lifetime value should make you feel just a bit better about their price.

Thanks for checking out our best golf nets in 2024 for practicing at home – in your yard or your garage. We’ve included a little something for everyone and every budget.
