This is Golfer Geeks’ review of the 2022 Taylormade Stealth Plus driver
I’m an avid golfer, a 9.2 7 handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.
I tested the Stealth Plus on range with my Swing Caddie SC300 launch monitor and I played 2 rounds of golf with it over the course of 2 weeks.
Summary: The Stealth Plus performed the same as the Stealth for me – great. I generally move sole weights to the draw position, but I didn’t fiddle with it this time. Didn’t find I needed to. I can only see you needing or getting real benefit out of the Stealth Plus if you really want to dial in your shot shape and bring down your trajectory.
In this Taylormade Stealth Plus driver review, I discuss my experience with the club, unique features and benefits, as well as customer reviews and potential alternatives.

Taylormade Stealth Plus Driver Overview
Club Tested Specs:
- Loft – 10.5 degree
- Shaft – Project X HZRDUS Smoke Red RDX 60 Graphite 6.0 Flex
Spin, launch, and flight characteristics
- Low spin
- Mid launch
- High forgiveness
- Neutral flight bias
The Taylormade Stealth Plus driver is the Stealth driver with a sole weight. At least for me. It’s designed to be lower spin and have a mid vs mid-high launch, but I didn’t spot the difference.
It’s got carbonwood and twist face technology. It’s plenty forgiving and plenty long.
Why Consider the Stealth Plus Driver
It’s a premium driver geared a little more towards better players, but I found it really easy to hit, and hit well.
And, it’s got the sole weight to add that next level of adjustability I mentioned above. It sounds and feels great, plus, I its easy to hit. Even for a mediocre driver like me.
It does come at a premium price, though.
Features & Benefits
1) 60X Carbon Twist Face
- Better energy transfer (Hotter Face)More forgiving
- Increased the effective hitting area by increasing the size of the face and clubheadIncreases accuracy and distance on off-center hits.
- Provides better feel on shots hit across the face
2) Asymmetric Inertial Generator
- Better aerodynamics just before impact (where Taylormade says it’s needed for increased clubhead speed)
- Allows additional weight to be placed for higher MOI, optimal launch, better forgiveness
3) 44% Lighter Than Titanium
- Position more mass lower in the clubhead for added forgiveness.
4) Nanotexture Cover & Polyurethane
- Nanotexture creates face texture with more friction at impact
- Polyurethane used to fine tune launch and spin, and optimize total distance
5) Premium Sound
- Taylormade says sound is an important component in feel so they used curvature, shape, and internal stiffening ribs to dial in acoustics.
6) Personalized Trajectory & Performance
- A.K.A. a sliding 10g weight in the sole to encourage a draw, neutral, or fade bias
My Experience with the Stealth Plus
I tested the Stealth driver over 3 range sessions and 2 rounds on the course.
I was testing it at the same time I was testing the Stealth HD for the first couple range sessions, then I added in the Cobra Radspeed XB (great driver, by the way).
I was fighting my swing for pretty much all of it, unfortunately. I had issues with accuracy, but the Stealth Plus kept me in play time and again. One thing I had zero issues with…distance.
Stealth drivers, including the Stealth Plus, are long. Consistently so. Just be somewhere around the sweet spot and they do the rest.
It’s everything you want out of a premium driver… at a premium price.
Review of the Taylormade Stealth Plus Driver
Looks (A)
I like mat finishes on woods and the mat black finish on the Stealth Plus works for me. The red carbonwood face stands out and looks cool to me. The head is 460cc, but Taylormade managed to make it seem a bit smaller. It sits behind and frames the ball well at address.
The sole is fine, but nothing to write home about.
Sound/ Feel (A+)
Great muted sound on contact, similar to the SIM2. The face feels a bit softer because of the polyurethane and carbon layer design.
Distance (A+)
Excellent distance. (My average numbers in the table below this section)
Forgiveness (A)
A lot
Flight (A)
Good swings resulted in medium-high to high draws or slight pushes.
Carry Yards | Ball Speed | Swing Speed | Smash Factor | |

Who is the Stealth Plus Driver For?
The Taylormade Stealth Plus has tons of forgiveness and all the distance. All but the highest handicaps could probably put it in play.
High handicap – Yes
Mid handicap – Yes
Low handicap – (Probably) I bet you could play it, but why not go for the Stealth or Stealth HD and get a little more help finding the short grass.

Our Verdict
The Stealth Plus is a long and forgiving driver and you’d be happy to play it every day.
I don’t see clear advantages over the Stealth at my skill level. Elite drivers with higher swing speeds may benefit more than I.
My #1 suggestion is to test before you buy. Either at your local golf store or take advantage of Global Golf’s Utry trial program. I use it and recommend it.
