Well, lucky for you, you’ve found yourself in this guide, in which I’ll show you how to change the font of an entire word from a computer (Windows or macOS) and from smartphones and tablets, regardless of whether it has the Android operating system or iOS/iPadOS.

How to change font to an entire word on PC

If you want to know how to intervene to change font to an entire word on your computer, know that this procedure can be carried out on any word processing software or, in general, on all those programs where you can select the font via the appropriate drop-down menu that collects all available font styles.

Therefore, in the next chapters I’ll explain how to perform this operation on Windows and macOS, using some specific software, but you can still take as a reference the procedures indicated to succeed in this your intent even in other programs installed on your PC (such as Microsoft Office and LibreOffice) or usable directly online, such as productivity suites from Google or Microsoft.

For Windows PCs, in this chapter I’ll explain how to change the font of an entire word using the popular word processing software Microsoft Word. As I anticipated, you can perform this operation in any other similar software, including WordPad, the free word processing program that comes preinstalled on Windows.

The first thing you need to do is start Word, either by creating a new document or by opening an existing one on your computer. Then you must do this by highlighting the word you want to change the font. You can do this in different ways, one or the other is irrelevant to achieve your objective.

To highlight a word, double-click on it or drag the cursor from the first character of which it is composed to the last, or simply click on it so that the writing cursor is positioned anywhere within the word.

Well, now go to the Home tab at the top and reach the drop-down menu in the Font section, which contains the text styles you can use in your document. What you need to do now is to select a different font than the one used in your document, choosing it from the list.

If you followed my directions to the letter, the result will be a word with a different font than the one set on the rest of the document. That was easy, wasn’t it?

macOS
Change font to a word on macOS

On macOS you can achieve your goal of changing an entire word font through Pages, Apple’s free word processing software. Therefore, launch the Pages application via its icon found in Launchpad and create a new document or open an existing one.

At this point, you have to highlight the word you want to change the font of. To do this, you can follow the same instructions I gave you in the previous chapter dedicated to Windows: therefore, click on the word or double-click on it to highlight it, or drag the mouse cursor from the first character of the word to the last one (keeping the left click pressed).

Then click on the drop-down menu under the heading Fonts in the sidebar on the right. Now, all you have to do is select one of the many fonts available in the list to change the font style of the word from the one set for the whole document.

How to change font to an entire word on smartphones and tablets
If you want to change fonts to an entire word on smartphones and tablets, be aware that this procedure can only be performed in apps where there is a font selector for the characters you will type within it. An example are productivity apps in which there are word processing tools. Anyway, you’ll find all the information you need in the next chapters.

Android
Change font to a word on Android

In order to change the font of an entire word on your Android smartphone or tablet, you can use any app that allows you to change the font of the typed text. For example, apps like Word or Google Docs can be a good example of how to achieve this.

In this chapter, I’ll explain how to take action via the pre-installed app on most devices: Google Docs. Therefore, start it via its icon that you find in the home screen (it might be inside the Google folder) or in the drawer.

Then, on the main screen, create a new document or open one from the list. To start the editing mode, tap on the pencil icon and select the word for which you want to change the font.

To accomplish this, keep your finger pressed on a word to highlight it. If the highlighting omitted any characters, use the side selectors to select the entire word.

Now, tap on the A icon at the top to access additional font formatting tools. In the bottom area, then tap on the Font item and choose one of the fonts shown in the list to set it to the highlighted word only. It was a piece of cake, wasn’t it?

iOS/iPadOS
Change font to a word on iPhone

On iPhone, as well as on iPad, the free word processing app Pages, developed by Apple, is available for managing text documents. As I told you in the previous chapters, I’ll explain how to change the font of an entire word on an example app (Pages), but you can apply the same instructions I’ll give you on other similar apps.

First, tap on the Pages icon on the home screen and, on its home screen, create a new text document or open an existing one. After that, proceed to select the word you want to change the font.

To perform this operation, you can simply tap on it, nothing else! Alternatively, while still tapping on it, you can press the Select button, found in the top box, to make sure the word is highlighted.

At this point, click on the brush icon at the top of the screen and then click on the Fonts item in the lower pane. Now all you have to do is select one of the listed fonts and the font style of the selected word will be changed instantly.
