This is Golfer Geeks’ Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal irons review.

I’m an avid golfer, a 9.2 7 handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.

I tested the Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal (and Forged) irons for two weeks on the course (mainly) and on the range.

Summary: The JPX 921 Hot Metals are likely the best feeling irons you’ll ever put in your hands. Equaled only by the Hot Metal Pros and Forged irons also from Mizuno. They’re long, forgiving, easy to hit, and an absolute pleasure to play.

In this review of the Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal irons, I discuss my experience with the clubs, unique features and benefits, as well as customer reviews and potential alternatives.

Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal Irons Overview

The Hot Metals feel and act like player irons, but they feature all the game improvement elements you expect in this category. Low CG  and high MOI for beaucoup forgiveness – High launch w/ good carry – and much help on off-center contact.

Why Consider the JPX 921 Hot Metal irons

They have all the game improvement attributes mid handicappers need and many of the playability qualities you’ll need as your game progresses. The sweet spot is generous you’ll get good results from marginal contact all day long.

And, you’ll never hit a better feeling set of irons in…until the next iteration from Mizuno.

My Experience with the Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal irons

My swing was a little sideways for my round with the Hot Metals. I hit a few solid shots and a whole lot more fat or toed shots too. But, they made up for it and kept me around or on the green much of the time.

Solid contact felt magical, just like the JPX 921 Forged irons. Solid and soft with quick launch, high trajectory, and great carry.

Review of the Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal Irons

Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal 7-iron

Looks: Solid (A)

I like the minimal design, but I prefer compact clubheads. I can’t gig them for that though. They made them this size for a reason – to look forgiving to mid handicaps.

Sound/ Feel: A+++++

Exceptional. This is going to be a treat for you.

Distance: A+

Many long. Just swing your swing. No need to go after it. Though, they can handle that too.

Forgiveness: A+

Exceptional.

Flight / Playability: A+

Just what you need. High and powerful. Can flight them down on command (if you’ve got the game)

Value: A+

Absolute killer bargain at $137/club new from Global Golf.

Customer Reviews

I found no complaints about their performance. A few people grumbled about shipping times or packaging.

Who are the JPX 921 Hot Metal irons for?

Low handicap: (Eh) You can, but the JPX 921 Forged or Tour irons are much more your speed.
Mid handicap: (Yes) Jump all over these. Doubt you’ll regret it
High handicap: (Maybe) They’re so forgiving, you’ve got a shot. Test before you buy.
