This is Golfer Geeks’ Mizuno JPX 923 Tour irons review.

I’m an avid golfer, 8ish handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6), and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.

I had the Mizuno JPX 923 Tour irons for the last 2 weeks. I got through a couple range sessions and parts of two rounds with them. (My course is crazy busy, so I had to skip around)

Summary: Mizuno JPX 923 Tour irons have improved feel, forgiveness, and looks over the JPX 921 Tour Irons. You can play all the shots in your bag. Elite low handicaps should give them a look.

In this review of the Mizuno JPX 923 Tour irons, I discuss my experience with the clubs, unique features and benefits, as well as customer reviews and potential alternatives.

Mizuno JPX 923 Tour Irons Overview

Mizuno has something called the “V Chassis” for the 923 Tours. This has allowed them to improve feel and turf interaction. The new copper underlay also contributed to the improved feel I experienced compared to the JPX 921 Tours.

  • This ain’t just marketing hype – as I touched on above. I noticed a marked improvement over the 921s.

Why Consider the JPX 923 Tour irons

They’re pretty much everything elite low handicaps want in an iron.

  • Compact, sleek clubhead with minimal offset.
  • Consistent and stable through impact with great feel.
  • The ability to play any shot you have in your bag.

Mizuno says they’re suitable pros and elite amateurs. (I agree)

My Experience with the Mizuno JPX 921 Tour irons

Surprising. I hit the JPX 923 Tour irons better and got better results than I expected.

My ball striking has improved since I tested the JPX 921 Tours, but these are better clubs in my opinion.

Honestly, I knew I would hit the short and mid irons well. It’s the 4-iron and 5-iron shots into 20 mph and 30 mph winds that sold me that the JPX 923s were a step up from the 921s.

I nailed two or three of them during my rounds which really surprised me. Long irons are not my strength at all. In fact, I build my game around never having to hit them. That being said, I made it my business to hit them out on the course.

Better feel, a little better distance, and a touch more forgiveness.

Our Verdict on the Mizuno JPX 923 Tour Irons

Excellent elite player irons that handle anything the better player can throw at them. All with Mizuno’s legendary soft solid feel.

The two improvements I see over the JPX 921 Tours:

  • More compact, sleek, and better-looking clubhead.
  • Better feel and more forgiveness in long irons.

Should you buy the JPX 923 Tour irons if you own the JPX 921 Tour irons?
I lean towards “Yes”. (See below for what you should really do.)

My #1 suggestion is to get your hands on them before you buy. Either at your local golf store or take advantage of Global Golf’s Utry trial program. I use it and recommend it.
