Testing the Rogue ST Pro irons
1 range session – I hit a couple buckets and flushed a lot of shots with the ST Pros. I figured they’d hit well and they didn’t disappoint. Luckily for me, my swing was good to go during my testing.
1 round of golf – I’d LOVE to play many more rounds with the ST Pros, but all I needed was one to know they are insanely good irons.
My Experience with the Callaway Rogue ST Pro Irons
My very first iron shot on the course was a 7-iron into the opening par 5.
My drive found the right center of the fairway. I had 175ish yards to the pin and I pulled the 7-iron which has the same loft as my everyday 6-iron (Ben Hogan PTx Pro).
I expected to be about pin-high with a good shot.
I flushed a high draw right over the flag about 12 feet past the pin for eagle (didn’t make it). It couldn’t have felt better or been a better result.
The Rogue ST Pros consistently delivered about half a club more distance than the loft played. The ball launches easily with a high piercing trajectory and lands soft around the pin or around the green.
Rogue ST Pros are minimal-effort irons. Put a decent swing on it, hit somewhere around the sweet spot and your ball will jump off the face, high into the air, and carry forever.
But, they are consistent too, which is crucial for scoring.
The lofts are about a club stronger than my everyday set. I just grabbed one iron less for all my yardages. So, no surprises once you figure out your lofts.
I would own and play these in a second.
Review of the Callaway Rogue ST Pro Irons
Looks (A+) I’m smitten. I love the looks of the ST Pros. Compact head. Thinish topline and sole. Beautiful design.
Sound/ Feel (A+) Fantastic. I love the muted “click” at impact and the feel is soft as can be.
Distance (A+) These lofts are jacked, to be sure. But the ST Pros are packed with features making it easy to elevate your ball and get good distance with less than great contact.
Forgiveness (A+) Outstanding for a player iron with a compact clubhead.
Flight / Playability (A+) Any trajectory or shape you want to dial up.
