Thanks for checking out my Taylormade Stealth 2 driver vs Stealth comparison.
I’m an avid golfer, 8ish handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.
I’ve had the Stealth 2 driver for a couple months and the Stealth driver for about half a year. I’ve played a couple rounds with the Stealth 2, had it on the range on my Garmin R10, and had it at home on the same Garmin R10 launch monitor.
Summary: The Stealth 2 is better than the Stealth in every way. Enough to upgrade from the Stealth? Only if you’ve got money burning a hole in your pocket or you make a living off of how well you score.
In this comparison of the Taylormade Stealth 2 and Stealth drivers, I discuss my experience with each driver, unique features and benefits, and my suggestions on which you should buy.

Testing the Stealth 2 & Stealth Drivers
Disclaimer: We’re in mid May as I’m typing this. I’ve been dealing with neck, back, and hip issues for over 6 months which has limited my play and practice.
I’m on the mend, but I’ve got some catching up to do.
So, my swing and swing speed are down from last year’s testing numbers.
Any and all unimpressive numbers are my fault, not the clubs I’m testing.
I’ve hit a BUNch of drives with my Stealth since I got it last year and I’ve hit quite a few with the Stealth 2 on the course and on my launch monitor over the last couple months. (Along with most of the other 2023 driver models from
I pulled out the Stealth 2 and Stealth drivers one last time to help form my last impressions.
Are there big differences between the Stealth 2 & Stealth?
Maybe not big, but the Stealth 2 has improved cosmetics, distance, sound, and feel over the Stealth.
Looks:
Stealth 2: (A) I like mat or flat finishes, but the glossier finish on this year’s Stealth 2 has won me over. The red on the sole, face, and crown accent now pop more too. At just the right angle, you can see the carbon weave in the crown.
Stealth: (A-) The mat black crown is attractive and the red face stands out without being cartoonish. It all works. There’s the tiniest bit of carbon weave showing through on the crown, which I always appreciate. It sets up beautifully behind the ball at address.
Winner – Stealth 2
Sound/Feel:
Sound and feel are back to SIM2 standards with the Stealth 2. I liked the sound and feel of the Stealth, but there’s a clear improvement with this year’s model.
Winner – Stealth 2
Forgiveness:
Splitting hairs here. The Stealth is a plenty forgiving driver. But I find the Stealth 2 is more stable on off-center hits.
Winner – Stealth 2
Distance:
The Stealth 2 is consistently 5-10 yards longer on similarly struck shots.
Range | Carry Yards | Ball Speed | Swing Speed | Smash Factor |
---|---|---|---|---|
Stealth 2 | 244.7 | 148.5 | 103.1 | 1.44 |
Stealth | 234.4 | 146.1 | 102 | 1.43 |
Net | Carry Yards | Ball Speed | Swing Speed | Smash Factor |
---|---|---|---|---|
Stealth 2 | 230.4 | 142 | 98.8 | 1.44 |
Stealth | 225.6 | 141.4 | 99.8 | 1.42 |
Winner – Stealth 2
Final Verdict on the Stealth 2 vs Stealth Driver
The Stealth 2 is a better driver in all categories…and that’s saying something.
Which driver would I get if I were coming out of my pocket?
Stealth 2…IF they were similarly priced and I didn’t already own the Stealth.
Should you buy the Stealth 2 if you own the Stealth?
See my #1 suggestion below.
Which driver should you get?
My #1 suggestion is to test both clubs before you buy. Either at your local golf store or take advantage of Global Golf’s Utry trial program. I use it and recommend it.
