Welcome to our review of the Callaway Mavrik Irons.
I’m an avid golfer, a 9.2 handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.
I tested the Mavriks over the course of 2 weeks on the range.
Summary: The Mavriks are long, get the ball up easily, and have all the forgiveness the mid handicapper is looking for. They are state of the art game improvement irons and certainly worth a look if you are in the market.
In this Callaway Mavrik Irons review, I discuss my experience with the clubs, unique features and benefits, customer reviews, and potential alternatives.

Testing Time with The Callaway Mavrik Irons
4 Sessions on the Range…No game time, unfortunately.
The set I tested consisted of pitching wedge through 4-iron.
I brought out my 8-iron and 5-iron form my set of Taylormade P 790s for comparison.
Pretty quickly, I figured out the Mavriks were/are hot irons that get the ball up easily. I’m a high-ball hitter so I would have been surprised if this hadn’t been the case. But, I have tested irons where even I had trouble getting the ball up without my best ball striking.
They set up nicely behind the ball and have zero intimidation factor.
As stated above, I had 4 range sessions and I probably hit 300-400 balls with these irons.. a lot more than needed, but I tend to lose track of time when I’m having fun. So, no worries.
What Surprised Me
Nothing…I expected them to be long… they were. I expected them to be forgiving… they were. I expected good sound and feel, …they had good sound and feel.
In summary, my high expectations were met. Good job Callaway.

Club Tested – 4 – PW – Mens right hand – True Temper Elevate 95 Steel Stiff Flex Shaft – Standard lie
**The Mavriks I tested were not close to my specs. I play 120 gram S-300 shafts and can easily play x-stiff shafts. My lies are also bent 2* flat.
Looks (C+) Not offensive, but not appealing to me. Head size exactly what you expect in the game improvement category. Not oversized or bulky. Looks good behind the ball at address.
Feel / Sound (A) Solid feel with a muted “click” at impact. No harshness detected.
Forgiveness (A) Why you buy these. If you have any ball-striking skill whatsoever, you’ll be good to go with the Mavriks. Center strikes yield killer results, but the whole face works in your favor.
Distance (A) Again, why you buy these. Easy distance without having to go after it. Center contact is great and not-center contact is pretty good too.
Shaping / Flighting (B) Yes, they want to go straight and high, but… You can dial up any shape or trajectory you want, assuming you can already dial up any shape or trajectory you want.

Verdict on Callaway Mavrik Irons
Mavrik irons are easy to hit with impressive distance, forgiveness, and good sound & feel. They’re one of the more impressive game improvement irons…still.
My #1 suggestion is to test before you buy. Either at your local golf store or take advantage of Global Golf’s Utry trial program. I use it and recommend it.
Thanks for checking out my review of the Callaway Mavrik irons and let me know how they perform for you.
