This is Golfer Geeks’ review of the Callaway Rogue ST Max LS driver.

I’m an avid golfer, a 9.2 handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.

I tested the Rogue ST Max LS during a couple range sessions and a round of golf. This is a lot of driver for my swing speed and skill. I knew this going in, so I wasn’t surprised I had to really work to hit good drives.

Summary: The Rogue ST Max LS is a serious driver for serious golfers. Meaning, you’d better have the swing speed and a low single digit driver swing to play this thing. It’s a great driver and it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Keep this in mind and test test test before you buy.

In this Callaway Rogue ST Max LS driver review, I discuss my experience with the clubs, unique features and benefits, as well as customer reviews and potential alternatives.

Callaway Rogue ST Max LS Driver Overview

This is the driver for golfer that need to take spin off the ball and height off their drives. Most of us need help getting the ball up – this ain’t the driver for that.

Why Consider the Rogue ST Max LS driver

Your swing speed stay above 110 mph consistently? Want a more penetrating ball flight and all the premium features in a premium-looking driver? This may be the driver for you.

Features & Benefits

1) Tungsten Speed Cartridge

  • 26 grams of tungsten are placed low and deep in the head to increase forgiveness thanks to a high MOI and increase speed on off-center hits.

2) Jailbreak Speed Frame

  • Provides added stability for more speed across the face

3) A.I. Designed Flash Face

  • Reduces spin and increases forgiveness.
  • Launches the ball easier and and faster

4) Precision Unibody Frame Construction

  • The frame is made of titanium and the crown and sole are proprietary Triaxial Carbon. The weight savings from using these materials is distributed elsewhere in the clubhead to increase forgiveness, improve launch, and give a slight draw bias.

5) Low Spin Head

  • Built for a more penetrating ball flight, less spin, and more workability.

Testing the Rogue ST Max LS Driver

I tested the Max LS and the Ping G425 Max driver at the same time over two range sessions. I took the LS on the course once.

I alternated drivers between swings with the Lag Shot driver training aid. I wanted to keep my tempo and timing good. I tend to get ALL out of wack when I hit a bunch of drives in a row.

My Experience with the Callaway Rogue ST Max LS Driver

As stated above. This is a LOT of driver for me. I did hit quite a few good drives, but it was work and I still didn’t get my preferred ball flight and trajectory – which is a medium-high to high gentle draw. By “good drive” I mean the ball ended up in the fairway or respectably near wear I was aiming.

Review of the Callaway Rogue ST Max LS Driver

Looks (A)

Rogue ST Max drivers have grown on me since I first reviewed them a couple months ago. I’m a fan of the mat black finish on the crown. The face graphics are fine, but nothing to write home about. The sole is reminiscent of the original rogue, but has copper colored accents. It sits nicely behind the ball at address and I feel confident looking down at it.

Sound/ Feel (A)

Reminds me of the Mavrik driver, but not quite as awesome. I dig… really dig a muted sound and feel.

Distance (A+)

All you want.

Forgiveness (B)

Plenty forgiving for strong drivers, I imagine. I’m not such a driver, so I needed a bit more.

Ball Flight (B)

Launched too low for me. I had to work hard to get close to my preferred mid-high trajectory and never quite got there.

I’m betting it launches just right for golfers with the game for it.

Customer Reviews

100% of buyers would recommend the Rogue ST Max LS to a friend. Even got a few mid and high handicaps that love it. (go figure)

Our Verdict on the Callaway Rogue ST Max LS Driver

The Rogue ST Max LS is an awesome driver if you’ve got the game suited for it.

I had to work to hard and there are better options for me and other mediocre drivers on the market.

My #1 suggestion is to test both clubs before you buy. Either at your local golf store or take advantage of Global Golf’s Utry trial program. I use it and recommend it.

Thanks for checking out our Callaway Rogue ST Max LS driver review and let us know if you pull the trigger on this one and how it works for you.
